Since I've had a couple people bug me about updating my blog (you know who you are) here you go:
We moved on May 31st to Rowlett, TX. We thought it would be a good idea to leave at night while the kids were sleeping. Turns out that wasn't such a good idea. We left Omaha around 9:00pm and we were hoping to drive to at least Oklahoma City, OK before stopping. The babies were restless and not comfortable in their car seats so they did not sleep good in the car and were really fussy. Britton was not comfortable when we made him try and sleep and he would start screaming, which in turn would wake up a baby, or two, or three. Our car was packed to the brim, along with the big trailer that we had to pull behind us, so everyone was crammed into the car, including the two dogs. It's amazing how much stuff you need to take with you when you travel with 5 kids, 3 of which are babies. So at 5:30 in the morning we stopped at a hotel for about 4 hours so everyone could get a little sleep. And by a little sleep I think I got about an hour and Chris got 2 hours. We then fed the kids and got in the car again. We stopped for lunch and then finally made it to Rowlett at about 4pm. We got to the house and for some reason the electricity had not been turned on yet, so it was a sauna. We ended up having to stay at a hotel that night.
Hotels and babies are not a good mix. The babies go to bed around 7:30pm. The rest of the family does not. Luckily there was a pool at the hotel, so Chris took Britton and Mycayla swimming while I fed the babies and then hid in the bathroom until they fell asleep. After the kids got done swimming, they ate dessert in the bathroom so they didn't wake up the babies. It was not fun in the least bit and I'm glad I only had to do that one night.
Our stuff was packed up and put on a truck on May 26th, but for some reason they could not deliver it until June 7th. Which also happens to be the day that Chris started his new job. I was not happy about this in the least because of course that meant that I had to take care of all the kids, along with dealing with the movers moving in our stuff. It was a long day and luckily it was not as bad as it could have been, thank goodness. Then the overflow truck was here on Wednesday morning, and luckily that only took half the day. That would have been a lot faster if the truck driver didn't have to unload by himself. I don't think that was very fair in the least.
So now we're here with a bunch of stuff. It literally took me 4 days just to unpack the boxes for the kitchen. It is very frustrating to only have about 2 hours during the day to be able to unpack. It makes unpacking take forever. I have now finally gotten the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and playroom done. Well they are functional, not necessarily done. They might never be done at this rate. We now have a garage full of stuff to go through that was in the shed and in the garage at our old house. That will take forever since I need Chris to go through it with me and he doesn't have much time to do that, since he doesn't get home until after 5 now. Did I mention that I now am working longer hours? And I didn't even get a raise!
I have a lot of pictures that I need to put on the blog, since we did have a party for the babies 1st birthday prior to us leaving Omaha. But as you can see I'm pretty busy right now, so I'm not sure when I'll get to it. Hopefully it will be soon.
Well, thats a pretty good start. Since I was at the party, I'll give you a free pass on the pics for now. However, you do realize that now since I don't get to see the babes whenever I want, I will expect regular updates. Muah!! Love you and miss you all!
