After we got married we decided to have one more together. This took some persuading on my part as Chris for some reason believed he was too old to start again. However, this easy task turned out to be somewhat of a challenge and we had to seek help from a fertility specialist. 2 years after our decision we had our son Britton.
Now that Britton is 2 we decided that it would be good for him to have a sibling close to his age. So we headed back to the fertility doc. After two cycles we found out that we would be having another little one. We were both very excited (and kind of scared) and couldn't wait for the first ultrasound at 6 weeks to see our new little bean. We knew there was a possibility of more than one but we didn't really think that it would happen to us. Boy were we wrong.
On December 18th we went into the doctors for my 6 week ultrasound and couldn't believe what we saw. There on the screen was not one, not two, but three little sacs.
We were told that since one sac was really small that baby A would probably not develop and would most likely not make it. This was hard to hear as we wanted these babies more than anything in the world. Even though there were two others, every baby is special and wanted. We were told to come back in 2 weeks to see how they were developing.
We went back to the doctors 2 weeks later and all the babies had a heartbeat. Yay! They were still concerned about baby A since it was still really small compared to the other two, but we were hopeful that everything would work out fine.
On January 12th we went back to the doctors again for another ultrasound check. At this appointment we were able to get measurements and heartbeats for all three babies.
This time we were told that babies C's heartbeat was way too high (it was in the 190's) which could mean that there was something wrong with the placenta. Again another baby might not make it. I was upset but we still believed that all babies would be ok and pull through.
At 14 weeks we got to peek to see what the little ones are. To our surprise, and some disappointment, we found out that we will be having 3 more little boys.
I am now 18 weeks and all babies are doing good. They are all now around the same size and continue to grow and develop. On Thursday March 20th we will go for our weekly appointment and this time they will be looking at the babies really well to see how they are growing and developing. This should be a fun appointment since they will be spending a lot of time on each baby to see how the heart, brain and other organs have developed and too make sure there are not any problems with any of the boys.
I will continue to post pictures of the little ones to show how much they are growing. I am also going to start posting pictures of my belly to show how big I've gotten. As of right now I feel like a beached whale and am almost the size of someone who is nine months pregnant with one baby and I'm only 5 months. Oh how I wonder if my belly can strech as far as it needs too.
Yay for babies!! Three more Britton's! I love that kid....I can't wait for these little guys too!
